Parents are asked to notify the nurse if their child is diagnosed with a significant contagious illness. Any student who has a fever may not return to school until he/she is fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. In the case where an antibiotic is required, the child must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.
The nurse may administrer Ibuprofin (Motrin) or Acetaminophen (Tylenol) to a student, as needed for pain, if the parent provides a written doctor's order authorizing it.
NYS requires physical examinations with immunizations for new students and students entering PreK, K,1,3,5 and 7. The exams must be done between 9/1/24 to 9/30/25 Students in grades 2,4, and 8 must be up to date with their immunizations. Students age 11 or older entering grade
6 must have a Tdap booster. All students entering grade 7 must have the meningococcal vaccine. These physical examinations and immunizations are due by the end of September.
