Welcome to the Second Grade

Welcome to your child's second grade classroom. I look forward to working with you and your child in helping your child reach his/her full potential. My Educational goals are:
  • To motivate each child to have an interest and desire to learn.
  • To encourage originality an creativity.
  • To work with each child to establish his/her goals to meet his/her potential.
  • To provide a learning environment in which the children feel safe and respected.
  • To foster each child's self-esteem.
  • To teach children to work with others and respect all people, places and things.
  • To nurture a spiritual relationship with God through the sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion.

POLICIES

Important Policies for Class

  1. All books must be covered.
  2. Students will have homework every night, except Friday. Your child will be writing his/her homework assignments in a marble notebook. Please sign or initial his/her homework book and homework assignments.
  3. Spelling test will be given once a week on Fridays. Tests in other subjects will be given at the conclusion of each unit or topic. Please be advised that homework may be counted as a test grade. You will be given advance notice of most tests, however, please note that there will be some unannounced quizzes in reading and math. All test will be sent home on Fridays. Please sign the tests and return them the following Monday.
  4. Book reports and other projects will be assigned throughout the year.
  5. Please remember to call the school nurse in the morning if your child is going to be out sick or miss school for any other reason.

PROJECTS

Students have one or two projects per month.

The students are expected to complete Book Reports, Science and Social Studies projects, and other writing assignments.
