Academic Curriculum and Special Programs:
Our school curriculum is the full curriculum of
the New York State Department of Education, as
adapted by the Archdiocese of New York.
Math –
Our math curriculum focuses on teaching basic
mathematical principles for students in the
younger grades. This sets a strong foundation
for those more complex math concepts,
computations and problems that will be taught in
the middle school grades. Students who excel in
math from grades 7 and 8 are invited to
participate in an enriched math program, and
offered the opportunity to study Math 9 Algebra
in preparation for high school.
Science –
The science curriculum is an enriching and
challenging, hands on program that encourages
students to develop their natural curiosity
about their surroundings. For students in grades
3 to 8, our state of the art laboratory is well
equipped to allow for various levels of
experimentation in Life Sciences, Chemistry,
Earth Science and Physics.
Language Arts &
Reading – Language arts instruction
utilizes an eclectic approach, sight vocabulary,
phonics, spelling and Basal readers. Reading in
integrated with writing and comprehension across
all subject areas. In the middle school grades
literature is stressed. Students in grades 3 to
8 are encouraged to participate in the Great
Books Reading Program, where students read
various literary pieces, including poetry and
classic titles, and participate in analytical
reading discussions.
Religion –
All students receive value-based instruction in
Scripture, morality, dogma and liturgy. Students
participate in a daily prayer and Mass as a
school community. Second grade students are
prepared to receive the Sacrament of Penance and
Holy Communion. Eighth grade students are
prepared to receive the Sacrament of
